Rondo Distributes An NBA-High 18 Assists Against Miami

Rajon Rondo tallied up 18 big assists in a losing effort for the Sacramento Kings in Miami Thursday night, the most assists for any player in the NBA so far this season. The mark also tied Sacramento’s franchise record for assists in a game, which Rondo now shares with Jason Williams and Reggie Theus.

Rondo’s distribution put the pressure on the Heat, who needed a season-high scoring effort to top the Kings. Miami put up 116 points for the seven point win.

Rondo narrowly missed his fifth triple-double effort of the young season, as an opportunity for a tenth rebound ricocheted away from him off the rim in the game’s final minute, a play that was reviewed as a potential shot clock violation. Rajon final line read 14 points, 18 assists, and nine rebounds.

Coming into the night, Rondo ranked second in assists per game this season, less than one scoring pass behind league leader Russell Westbrook.
