Though the Knicks could have benefited from some extra depth at point guard, the team deemed a healthy Baker, an undrafted rookie out of Wichita State, more of an asset than Chasson Randle, who is recovering from a fractured left orbital and is likely two weeks away from a return. It’s possible that once an injury hits the point guard ranks, Baker could be waived to add depth at that position. For as long as he remains with the Knicks, Baker isn’t expected to factor into the rotation and could even see extended time with their D-League affiliate in Westchester.
