It was well established when training camp began that the 76ers’ frontcourt was overcrowded, but Holmes was generally excluded from the list of players competing for time down low. However, he’s taken full advantage of expanded minutes while Nerlens Noel (groin) and Jahlil Okafor (knee) have missed time in the preseason, tallying double figures in the scoring column in all three of his appearances and shooting 19-for-29 (65.5%) overall. It’s probably still not enough for Holmes to warrant a draft selection in most leagues, but he’s someone to keep an eye on if an injury or trade opens up more opportunities when the regular season arrives.
