Kings Trade Ariza, Gabriel, Swanigan To Blazers For Bazemore, Tolliver, Draft Picks

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento Kings announced today that the team has acquired guard-forward Kent Bazemore, forward Anthony Tolliver, a 2024 second-round draft selection and a 2025 second-round draft selection from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for forwards Trevor Ariza, Wenyen Gabriel and Caleb Swanigan.

Starting his career with the Golden State Warriors after going undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft, Bazemore has accrued averages of 8.6 points (.413 FG%, .349 3pt%, .725 FT%), 3.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.0 steals and 21.1 minutes per game in 526 career games (278 starts) with Golden State (2012-14), Los Angeles Lakers (2013-14), Atlanta (2014-19) and Portland (2019-20).

An 11-year NBA veteran, Tolliver went undrafted in the 2007 NBA Draft and has averaged 6.3 points (.417 FG%, .374 3pt%, .770 FT%), 3.4 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 19.8 minutes per game in 697 career games (101 starts) with San Antonio (2008-09), Golden State (2009-10), Portland (2009-10, 2019-20), Minnesota (2010-12, 2018-19), Atlanta (2012-13), Charlotte (2013-14), Phoenix (2014-15), Detroit (2014-16) and Sacramento (2016-17).

Trevor Ariza has averaged 6.0 points per game in 32 games this season, shooting 38.8% overall and 35.2% on 3-pointers. He won a championship with the Los Angeles Lakers as a key role player in 2009 and has spent 15 seasons in the NBA, playing for the Kings, Lakers, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, Houston Rockets, New Orleans Hornets, Washinton Wizards and Phoenix Suns.

Gabriel has played in 11 games for the Kings and is a deep reserve on the team, averaging 1.7 ppg on 35% shooting. He played in seven games this season with the NBA G League’s Stockton Kings, averaging 19.3 ppg, 6.9 rpg and 1.2 bpg. A second-year pro, Gabriel went undrafted in 2018 after two seasons at the University of Kentucky.

For Swanigan, this is a reunion with the team that took him No. 26 overall in the 2017 draft. Has played sparingly for Sacramento, logging 0.7 ppg in seven games with the Kings. He was dealt to the Kings last February as the Blazers picked up big man Skal Labissiere.

This five-player deal is the second major trade with the Feb. 6 deadline for deals approaching.

On Thursday, in a trade also first reported by ESPN’s Wojnarowski, the Hawks sent Allen Crabbe to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for guard-forward Treveon Graham and former Hawks guard Jeff Teague.

Bazemore, 30, is also a former Hawk. In his eighth season, he is averaging 7.9 points, 4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.
