LeBron James has a thoracic muscle strain nd will not play in Sunday’s Lakers vs. Nuggets game (9:30 ET, NBA TV), the team announced Sunday.
Coach Frank Vogel told Lakers reporter Mike Trudell that the injury to a muscle in LeBron’s midsection occurred against Indiana on Tuesday night and LeBron played through it against the Bucks on Thursday night. LeBron managed a triple-double — 21 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists — in the Lakers’ 111-104 loss to Milwaukee.
If LeBron doesn’t play Sunday, Alex Caruso, Quinn Cook and Rajon Rondo are likely to assume more of the ball-handling duties. Lakers’ big man Anthony Davis is probable to play with a right ankle sprain and Kyle Kuzma is probable with a left ankle sprain.
