The Wizards might be forced to salvage their season without the services of their big offseason addition.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Dwight Howard “probably will need a surgical procedure” for the gluteal injury that has forced him to miss 12 out of 21 games.
Howard received a recommendation from a nerve specialist in Los Angeles on Thursday and might seek further consultation before making a final decision on a surgery that would cause him to miss a significant portion of the regular season.
The eight-time All-Star is averaging 12.8 points and 9.2 rebounds for the Wizards, who have begun to stabilize after a 2-9 start to the season.
