Patrick McCaw scored a game-high 28 points but it was not enough to overcome the Toronto Raptors, who beat the Golden State Warriors, 75-69, in the second round of the Las Vegas Summer League tournament Thursday at Cox Pavilion.
The 16th-seeded Warriors led, 62-59, with nearly five minutes remaining, but No. 1 Toronto went on a 14-2 run over the next four minutes to put Golden State away, as the Warriors scored a meager seven points on 3-for-11 shooting in the last 5:22.
McCaw went 1-for-3 from the floor in that stretch with two turnovers and two fouls. Golden State (2-3) shot 38.0 percent from the field and committed 17 turnovers, which Toronto (4-0) turned into 17 fastbreak points.
Norman Powell continued to shine in summer league play, leading the way for the Raptors with 17 points and two steals. Drew Crawford paced the bench with 13 points. Bruno Caboclo had 12 points and Delon Wright added 11 points.
Ognjen Kuzmic totaled 13 points and nine rebounds for the Warriors, who got just 10 bench points.
The Raptors advance to Saturday’s quarterfinals where they will play the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Warriors play the Dallas Mavericks in a consolation game Friday.
