The Toronto Raptors (54-26) defeated the host New York Knicks (32- 49) 93-89, earning a franchise-best 23rd road win, Sunday evening at Madison Square Garden.
More Raptors history was made as DeMar DeRozan passed Vince Carter to become second on the Raptors' all-time scoring list. DeRozan finished with a game-high 27 points, on fantastic 12-17 shooting. The Knicks put up quite a fight and made it a close game right down to the wire, but DeRozan and the Raptors would not be stopped, as they continue to push their franchise-best win total to new heights.
The Raptors shot 47 percent from the field and 35 percent from long range, as they held off the relentless Knicks. Kyle Lowry followed up DeRozan's 27 points, with 15 of his own, along with seven assists and two steals, in 32 minutes. Jonas Valanciunas finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, three blocked shots and two assists, in 28 minutes, while Terrence Ross chipped in 13 points, in 21 minutes off the bench. The Raptors did well to only give up seven turnovers in the game.
The Knicks had a tough night shooting the ball, hitting 36 percent of their field goal attempts and 35 percent from long range. Carmelo Anthony finished with a team-high 21 points, along with six rebounds and three assists. Jerian Grant added 19 points, along with three rebounds, three steals and one assist, in 38 minutes, while Sasha Vujacic finished with 13 points, eight rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot, in 35 minutes. The Knicks were missing Jose Calderon (quadriceps) and Kristaps Porzingis (shoulder).
Next, the Knicks will finish up their season with a game in Indiana, on Tuesday.
The Raptors host the 76ers on Tuesday, in their last home game of the season.
