Three weeks after suffering a laceration in practice, Julius Randle had all seven stitches removed from his right hand on Monday.
Randle, who cut open the webbing between his middle and ring fingers on Aug. 29., will “buddy tape” those digits together for all playing for about a month.
Randle and his fellow Lakers will open training camp in Santa Barbara next Tuesday. The action will begin to ramp up shortly after that, with the first preseason game on Oct. 4 and the regular-season opener on Oct. 26.
This summer, Randle participated at USA Basketball Training Camp as a member of the USA Select Team. The 21-year-old averaged 11.3 points and 10.2 rebounds in essentially his first NBA season last year. He ranked 10th in the league in rebounding and 15th in double-doubles (34).
