Quincy Acy dunks are loud, they’re mean and they’re often angry.
On Thursday night at Sleep Train Arena, fans were given a ton of chances to catch one in person or on the TNT broadcast.
In 25 minutes against the Lakers, Quincy finished with a near career-high 18 points – his career-high is 19 – while shooting 8-9 from the field. It should be noted, though, that seven of those eight made field goals were dunks.
“Don’t forget about that jumper,” joked No. 13 following the win. “I know what my bread and butter is though and I just try to put pressure on the rim.”
The fourth-year forward who lovingly adopted the nickname “Angry Acy” for the way he attacks the basket, has been a bright spot for Sacramento over the last three games – all of which he started.
When asked about his recent play, DeMarcus Cousins
and Rajon Rondo had nothing but glowing things to say about the former Baylor Bear.
“That’s our spark plug right now,” said Cousins after the game. “He’s taking full advantage of his opportunity and we’re fortunate to have him on our team right now.”
Additionally, as the beneficiary of more than a few Rondo assists, Rajon and Quincy know how important each’s game is to the other.
“I love playing with him,” said No. 9 with a smile in his postgame scrum. “We as a team feed off of his energy and it’s contagious.”
“All of my teammates did a great job of finding me,” continued Acy. “The passing was infectious tonight. Everyone was trying to move the ball, everyone was trying to get an assist. It is fun when people try to bring that attitude to the game.”
“I’m blessed to be in a position to go out there and get some minutes.”
