Back-to-back: The Nets wrap up a back-to-back set Saturday night in Memphis. Brooklyn is looking to bounce back from a 102-75 loss Friday night against San Antonio. The Nets led the Spurs 47-42 at halftime, but their tough luck in San Antonio continued against a veteran Spurs team. Saturday also wraps up the Nets first road trip of the season.
“Hopefully we can bounce back Saturday,” Jarrett Jack said. “We’re playing a good Memphis team in its building, which is going to be tough as well. It’s an opportunity to get this first win out of the way.”
Jarrett Jack: Jarrett Jack made his season debut Friday, posting 12 points, six rebounds and a team-high seven assists. Jack also showed some range, knocking down a pair of three pointers. Jack missed the season opener with a hamstring injury, but the point guard’s return on Friday allowed head coach Lionel Hollins to see his starting five in action.
Bench: The Nets got 32 points from their bench Friday, including 10 points from Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, seven from Shane Larkin and six from Bojan Bogdanovic. The Nets bench shot 75 percent from the field in the first half, helping Brooklyn to a 47-42 lead by halftime. Hollis-Jefferson shot 5-for-7 in his second NBA game, contributing four rebounds as well.
Memphis: After dropping their season opener to Cleveland, Memphis rebounded for a 112-103 win over the Indiana Pacers Thursday. Marc Gasol threw up 20 points against the Pacers and has a team-leading 16 points-per-game, while Zach Randolph is averaging eight rebounds per contest. The Grizzlies have won 50 games in three straight seasons.
