Pelicans remain winless after OT thriller against the Suns

Suns (2-4), Pelicans (0-6)

While playing competitively in all but one game during a winless start to the season, New Orleans has experienced the gamut of frustration in its inability to post a victory. From that standpoint, Friday’s defeat to Phoenix was just about as bitter a loss as an NBA team can experience in game No. 6 of an 82-game season.

Despite leading in the final seconds of both the fourth quarter and overtime, the Pelicans could not close out the Suns, who used heroics from Devin Booker and T.J. Warren to post a thrilling victory. Booker made a baseline jumper at the buzzer of regulation, followed by Warren cutting behind the New Orleans defense in the final seconds of OT for a 112-111 lead.

IT WAS OVER WHEN…

In a desperate scramble during the final 7 seconds of overtime, New Orleans had to push the ball upcourt and try to find a shot. E’Twaun Moore got off a jumper just before the buzzer, but it misfired. As players tried to collect the rebound, the horn sounded, signaling the end of a nerve-wracking game between two Western Conference teams needing wins badly.
