DETROIT PISTONS HEAD COACH STAN VAN GUNDY: (On tonight's game): “We just weren't ready to play tonight; that's on me. You put a team out there with that level of readiness, that is coaching malfeasance.”
(On lack of ball movement): “If you don't pass you can't get any assists. We didn't pass the ball. I don't think we had three times where the ball got from one side to the other.”
(On Philadelphia): “They were playing way too fast for us. They were really ready to play. We weren't the least bit ready to play.”
DETROIT PISTONS GUARD REGGIE JACKSON: (On tonight's game): “I think we probably thought the game started at 7 p.m. I don't know what we were doing; we didn't come out and compete. That's probably why around 7 p.m. we woke up in the third and it was a battle. But hats off to them they came out and competed, they ran circles around us and they kicked our (butts).”
(On the message during halftime): “There was no message. 'Have pride', honestly. I don't know what directly was said; there wasn't much to be said. Have to have some pride.”
(On playing to the level of your competition): “We didn't even play. I can't say we played to the level of competition; we didn't play for a whole half.”
PHILADELPHIA 76ERS HEAD COACH BRETT BROWN: (On tonight's teamwork): “As a team, when you wake up and one of your two point guards is not going to play and is sick then Nerlens (Noel) came in and gave us something and then at half time you realize he's not going to be available…You give Nik (Stauskas) the ball and try to manufacture another ball carrier. All over the place people contributed and ultimately it really was a team effort. I thought it was a Philly-hard effort. I think that it was just a team result. I feel like as a team we responded.”
(On ball movement): “Right now, I think we're fourth in the NBA in assist percentage which is a great number for us. When you talk about how many of your scored baskets are assisted, we're fourth and I shared that stat before we started this game. We're proud of our ball movement, we're trying to grow. We're trying to realize that we have a Joel (Embiid) and Jahlil (Okafor), but you just can't come down and force the post and scan, you've got to move. In the first half we had 19 assists, that's a massive number. That's the best defensive team in the NBA right now, by statistics. They get stuck into us, we had 15 second-half turnovers and we had to take some hits, but in general I think our ball movement over the past five to seven games has been very good and we needed every one of them tonight.”
PHILADELPHIA 76ERS GUARD T.J. McCONNELL: (On if minutes made a difference): “I think knowing that you're going to play a lot more minutes and for the wrong reasons that made me want Sergio (Rodriguez) here. I just tried to step in and hold down the fort for as long as I could.”
(On starting tonight's game): “I just had to go and play like I had been since I got here. Just play hard, get people the ball and shoot when open.”
