The visiting Detroit Pistons took down the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, 102-97.
Detroit (19-24) needed the win on Sunday after having lost three straight, including two consecutive blowouts. In Los Angeles, the Pistons looked as though they were in better form, as the team shot a respectable 43 percent with 24 assists. All-Star center Andre Drummond led the team with a whopping 17 rebounds and posted 15 points. Two starters, Marcus Morris and Tobias Harris, scored 23 points. The Pistons’ bench, however, remains one of the weakest in the NBA. The Detroit second unit combined for only 21 points and committed eight fouls.
The Lakers (15-30) are now the owners of a four-game losing streak. Los Angeles had the opposite problem of Detroit, as many of the team’s starters struggled from the field. Only D’Angelo Russell scored in double figures for the Lakers’ starting five, and both Julius Randle and Luol Deng went 1-of-6 for two points. Off the bench, however, Lou Williams led the team with 26 points while Jordan Clarkson contributed 16. The team also struggled from deep, though, shooting just 6-of-26 on three-pointers.
The Lakers will host the Nuggets on Tuesday, while the Pistons will host the Hawks the Wednesday.
