Pistons Facts: Anthony Tolliver

The favorite moment of my pro basketball career was playing in the 2010 game in which Don Nelson became the NBA’s all-time leader in wins. I started the game for his team, the Golden State Warriors, and scored 34 points, which is still my career high. My hero is my mother, who sacrificed so much to give her family a better life. She was a teacher in Missouri for 30 years. The greatest embarrassment of my life came from stealing an NBA trading card from a friend. The player on the card was David Robinson. When my mom found out, she made me apologize to my friend. I never stole again. I don’t have hate in my heart. I’ve never even been in a fight. I’m a calm guy. That’s my nature. In childhood and in college, my nickname was A Train. I met my wife Jessica at Creighton University, during freshman orientation. We became friends, and the rest is history. I put my first pro paycheck in the bank and let it sit there. During my rookie season the only thing I bought was a Chrysler 300. Steph Curry is the person I most admire. Success hasn’t changed him. He’s so humble and such a good guy. Jesus and Martin Luther King are the historical figures I’d most want to meet. My pet peeve is Internet trolls, people who talk trash on social media. I don’t talk trash. On the Pistons, KCP is hands-down the best at it. The talent I most covet is the ability to sign. If I could use sign language, I’d sign R&B. I’d like to die in bed at age 90, lying next to Jessica. We could go together, I guess. That is, if she’s up for it.
