The New Orleans Pelicans (1-6) blew out the Dallas Mavericks (3-4) 120-105 on Tuesday.
The Pelicans picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday in brilliant fashion. The final score makes it look like a respectable loss, but the Pelicans were up by double-digits nearly the whole game. New Orleans shot 50 percent from the field and made 14 three-pointers en route to a win.
Dallas made three big offseason signings and it has yet to work out for them. In this game specifically, Wesley Matthews, Chandler Parsons and Deron Williams combined for just 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists across 55 minutes of action. The team was led by its bench in this game, as they totaled 58 points in the defeat. The Mavericks got a nice performance from Charlie Villanueva off the bench as well, who amassed 15 points and nine rebounds across 26 minutes of play. The Mavericks were able to rest their starters quite a bit here and that could be beneficial when they will look to rebound in their next game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday in the second half of a back-to-back.
The Pelicans got that first elusive win, and it came in relatively easy fashion. They had five players who scored at least 17 points with Ryan Anderson leading the bunch. Anderson put up 25 points and 11 rebounds while going 10-for-16 from the field. Ish Smith continued his good form as well, as he provided 17 points and 12 assists off the bench. This team is way too talented to get their first win on November 10 and hopefully this will be the start of a big run. They'll look to start a winning-streak against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday in the second half of a back-to-back.
