Pelicans Head Coach Alvin Gentry: On tonight's game: “I thought Tyreke Evans did a really good job attacking the basket, that's kind of what he is. We tried to put him in a situation where he would be going downhill and I thought he did a great job with that. Defensively we just locked in and did exactly what we needed to down the stretch. Brook Lopez is a load in there. When Brooklyn throws it inside it's hard to start doubling him because they have so many threepoint shooters. I thought we did a really good job of running guys off of the line and when we didn't run them off of the line I thought we did a great job of challenging the shot. Brooklyn got up 42 three-pointers and made nine. I think that's about as good as you can hope for. We made a lot of adjustments trying to get the right combination of guys out there. We liked Tyreke Evans and Jrue Holiday being in in the end. I thought they did a good job.”
Pelicans Guard/Forward Tyreke Evans: On Terrence Jones' performance: “He played good. He played good the last game too. Just rebounding, he's pushing the ball a little bit, knocking down shots, getting aggressive. Overall, he just played pretty well for us.”
On what was working for him tonight: “Just attacking the rim, just talk to the bigs, a lot of pick-and-roll step-up so I can go downhill and attack and make plays.”
Pelicans Forward Terrence Jones: On what powered his double-double tonight: “I just think just having high energy. I mean with AD (Anthony Davis) out, I knew I was gonna have to try to bring a presence on the defensive end and defensive rebounding, and I just tried to help us get stops so we can go out and run in transition and get easy, early offense.”
On guarding Brook Lopez: “Brook's a great player. Big, versatile big. I just tried to be physical with him and just give him a hard time, but it's hard for anybody in this league to guard him. I just wanted to try to get stops in the fourth quarter so we could come out with the win.”
