Pelicans Head Coach Alvin Gentry: On tonight's loss: “It wasn't the best played game, but I thought everyone played hard. Both teams played hard. Really the difference in the game was that they came up with a couple of big plays at the end, big rebounds and they made a couple of big shots. Obviously, we didn't shoot the ball very well, but I thought our defense was great. We've just got to come up with those two big, we have to come up with the big play to get us over the hump. They just couldn't do it tonight.”
On the final possession of regulation as well as of the overtime periods: “We tried to get the ball to AD (Anthony Davis) and we just got a little bit too deep with it and the ball ended up going to Terrence (Jones) and they made a good block on the play. We were trying to put AD in a situation where he had it at the top where he would have had a shot at opportunities to drive and make the play and we just got it too deep.”
Pelicans Guard Langston Galloway: On if he believed his last shot was going in: “It felt good. Tim (Frazier) and Coach set up a good play. Tim found me in the corner and Terrence set up a great screen, I was confident that it was going in, just a little right.”
“We actually drew it up in the timeout. Once we won the tap, there was supposed to be a flair screen to the backside. It happened literally to an exact 'T'. Great look, just missed it.”
Pelicans Forward Solomon Hill: On the team's play in overtime: “We tip our hats to those guys. Not just those two (Gasol/Daniels). Tony Allen made some great plays, started the second overtime with a steal/layup. That's a momentum shifter. We had chances to win in regulation and the first overtime, we just didn't execute.”
On closing the game out: “It's tough. Guys don't want their guys to get rebounds and lose that 'team scheme' that you put in place, but sometimes it is just who wants it more and they wanted it more. It wasn't just one instance, it was twice. Big key moments and they just made the shots.”
