Pelicans-Clippers Postgame Quotes 12-2-16

Pelicans Head Coach Alvin Gentry: On the struggles in the second half: “I thought they (Los Angeles Clippers) just controlled the game. CP (Chris Paul) pretty much controlled the whole game after the halftime. We had our opportunities and didn't get it in. I thought we had some costly turnovers at the most inopportune times and they made shots. You've got to give them credit down the stretch there where they made four straight 3's and got separation. That was the difference in the game, really.”

On Anthony Davis' performance and if his performance was due to the Clippers play or his injury: “I think it was a little bit of both. I thought they did a good job on him, playing two and sometimes three guys coming to get the ball out of his hands. He also missed some shots that he's been making throughout the season, but I just didn't think they felt us at all. I didn't think that they felt like we were there and we were into them at all. I thought they were kind of running freely and shooting the ball freely and taking it wherever they wanted to. You can't do that against this team. They're a really, really good basketball team and they've got great depth too.”

Pelicans Guard E'Twaun Moore: On team energy: “We knew they were coming off a back to back. We should have been more of the aggressors, but we weren't. That was a little disappointing.”

On coming off the bench: “It's cool. I've been coming off the bench most of my career, so it's no different for me. I just try to provide a spark off the bench on a couple of occasions. As long as I'm coming off the bench that's what I'm going to try to do.”

Pelicans Forward Anthony Davis: On losing the early lead: “They're a good team. We'll have to go back and see what happened during that spurt but they are a good team. I think we were up six. We need to have a bunch of energy from the start, especially against a team like that.”

On defensive play in the second half: “They were making the right plays. We were living with Blake (Griffin) and Mbah a Moute making jumpers and they made them. That was our game plan and when we closed out on the shots, they made plays. We didn't rebound that well and we gave up a lot of offensive rebounds and those turn into points.”
