The Indiana Pacers defeated the Miami Heat, 86-83, in Orlando Summer League at Amway Center on Monday.
This was one of the closest games of the Summer League thus far, as there were nine ties and four lead changes in total. In addition, neither team led by more than 11 points, as it was within an eight-point margin for the final 16 minutes. Indiana (3-0) really turned it on in the second half, as they outscored Miami (0-3), 50-37. Interior play was key, with the Pacers outrebounding the Heat, 48-37, while winning the points in the paint battle by a 20-point margin.
T.J. Leaf led the way for Indiana, as he tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds en route to a double-double. Joe Young finished with 17 points, six rebounds and six assists. Jarnell Stokes started at center and provided 14 points and seven rebounds.
Bam Adebayo was the best player on the floor for Miami, as he scored a game-high 29 points to add to his 11 rebounds and two blocks. Justin Robinson totaled 12 points and two rebounds. Jake Odum was a nice surprise off the bench, contributing seven points, five rebounds, seven assists and two steals.
The Pacers will face the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday for their next game, while the Heat take on the Detroit Pistons.
