PHILADELPHIA – The 76ers plan to spend the final day before the 2016 draft observing more prospects.Out of the six players scheduled to be on the floor Wednesday at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, North Carolina’s Brice Johnson is believed to have the best chance of getting drafted, according to the latest mocks. Also included in the Sixers’ ninth pre-draft workout group are Syracuse’s Trevor Cooney, Temple’s Quenton DeCosey, Louisiana Tech’s Alex Hamilton, Houston’s Devonta Pollard, and Gonzaga’s Kyle Wiltjer. An All-American four-year forward, the 6’10” tall Johnson was a two-way force amidst the Tar Heels’ run to this April’s national championship game. Last year, the Orangeburg, South Carolina native topped UNC in points (17.0 ppg), rebounds (10.4 rpg), field goal shooting (61.4 fg%), and blocked shots (59). Johnson cranked out 23 double-doubles as well, a figure that broke a single-season program record previously held by former Sixers player and coach Billy Cunningham. One of Johnson’s double-doubles came in dominant fashion on January 4th at Floriday State, where he erupted for 23 boards and 39 points, behind a 14 for 16 effort from the field.Heading into Thursday’s draft, Johnson is considered by many to be a first-round bubble pick. He and Wiltjer, another All-American forward, are the only ones from Wednesday’s batch of NBA hopefuls to have taken part in last month’s NBA Draft Combine in Chicago.
