Omer Asik: Starts at center Wednesday

Asik logged the majority of the starts throughout the preseason schedule, so this was the expected move all along. With that said, that Pelicans plan on playing a small-ball lineup with Anthony Davis at center throughout games this season, which could limit Asik’s overall impact in the boxscore on some nights. We should see his role clarified as the early portion of the season moves along, but for now, it wouldn’t be surprising if his minutes remained limited.
