United States 96, Serbia 66

The gold medal game between the US and Serbia was tight after first quarter but quickly got out of hand as the United States outscored their opponent 77-51 en route to their third straight Olympic gold. The squad also dominated Serbia on the glass, out rebounding them 54-33.

The depth of the United States was overpowering as every one of the 12 players on the roster scored in the contest. The team will leave Rio having not dropped a game, and with the gold medal around their necks.

The bronze medal game was a closely contested matchup from tip off to the final whistle but in the end it was Pau Gasol and Spain that made the podium. The Australians put forth a valiant effort in the loss as they shot a highly efficient 52% from the field. It was Spain’s ability to control the game’s tempo that was the story. As a team they only turned the ball over seven times while also racking up 20 assists.
