Nuggets hold off Trail Blazers 108-104

The Denver Nuggets (2-5) defeated the Portland Trail Blazers (4-4) 108-104 Monday at the Pepsi Center in Denver. 

The teams traded blows throughout the night in the back-and-forth affair, by the Nuggets were ultimately able to hold off the opposition in the end. J.J. Hickson had a very productive evening, posting a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds in 30 minutes. Rookie Emmanuel Mudiay also managed contribute to in multiple categories recording 18 points, six rebounds, five assists and a season-low two turnovers. 

Despite defeat, Portland’s starters performed adequately, as each managed to score in double figures in the losing effort. Damian Lillard continues to excel as the leader of the team. He scored 30 points, and dished out seven assists in 38 minutes and has now scored at least 25 points in five straight games. 

Up next, the Trail Blazers will head home to take on the Spurs Wednesday, while the Nuggets will stay home and play the Bucks Wednesday.
