Rebounding was an advantage for Utah, as they outrebounded San Antonio by a 52-41 margin.
The Spurs (0-1) only player with more than 10 points was second-year guard Derrick White, who totaled 22 points to go with seven rebounds and six assists. Rookie Chimezie Metu finished with 10 points and seven boards. Amida Brimah amassed nine points and nine rebounds.
The Jazz (1-0) had five players reach double figures in scoring. Former Iowa State standout Georges Niang led the team with 17 points and four rebounds.
