Sean Kilpatrick scored a game-high 24 points as the Brooklyn Nets outlasted the Philadelphia 76ers, 87-84, in the second round of the Las Vegas Summer League tournament Thursday at the Thomas and Mack Center.

In a tight game throughout that featured 15 lead changes and 10 ties, a Chris McCullough driving layup with 55 seconds remaining gave the Nets an 85-84 lead before Rondae Hollis-Jefferson sealed it with two free throws with 4.2 seconds remaining.

The 76ers could have used Ben Simmons, the first overall pick in this year’s draft, who rested for the second consecutive game, as they failed to score in the final 1:51.

The sixth-seeded Nets (3-1) outworked the No. 22 Sixers (1-4) around the basket, outrebounding them, 41-27, and outscoring them in the paint, 44-30.

Kilpatrick was 8 of 19 from the field with eight rebounds, while McCullough posted 13 points and 10 rebounds. Hollis-Jefferson also had 13 points and eight rebounds.

The 76ers had five players in double figures, led by Brandon Paul’s 18 points. James Webb III and Maodo Lo each scored 13 points. Richaun Holmes had 12 points and Timothe Luwawu Cabarrot had 10.

The Nets advance to Saturday’s quarterfinals where they will play the Cleveland Cavaliers-Los Angeles Lakers winner. The 76ers play the Miami Heat in a consolation game Friday.
