Nets blast Pelicans in Summer League action, 95-66

Archie Goodwin scored 18 points off the bench to lead the Brooklyn Nets to a 95-66 rout of the New Orleans Pelicans in the Las Vegas Summer League on Monday afternoon at Cox Pavilion.

The Nets (2-1) built a 24-12 first-quarter lead that grew to 51-27 by halftime. The Pelicans (0-3) showed more life coming out of intermission, but Brooklyn still outscored them in the second half, 44-39. The Nets shot 45.0 percent from the field and 81.2 percent from the free-throw line and had 53 rebounds. The Pelicans were held to 31.1 percent shooting from the field and had 11 shots blocked.

Goodwin, who added eight assists, four rebounds, two blocks and a steal in 20 minutes, shot 6-of-9 from the field. Caris LeVert finished with 17 points and eight boards, while Jeremy Senglin had 14 points in 19 minutes. Isaiah Whitehead totaled 11 points, five rebounds and four assists, and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson had 11 points, eight rebounds, a steal and a block.

Quinn Cook, just signed to a two-year contract by the Pelicans in April after logging six games with the team last season, scored 20 points. Isaiah Cousins scored 12 points, and Cheick Diallo continued his strong summer with nine points, eight rebounds, two blocks and a steal.

Both teams await the final seeding for the summer league playoffs, which begin Wednesday.
