More Than $750,000 Raised For Cleveland-Area Charities During Championship Playoff Run

During the 2016 NBA Playoffs, not only did the Cleveland Cavaliers go “ALL IN” on the court, but the teams and their fans went “ALL IN” for the Cleveland community as well. Watch party admissions, 50/50 raffles and auctions during the playoffs raised more than $750,000 for local charities in Northeast Ohio!

Admission was $5 per ticket to this year’s Official Road Game Watch Parties provided by the Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena, presented by Budweiser, with 100% of the proceeds going to six local charities: The Centers for Families and Children, City Year Cleveland, Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy Center, Cuyahoga County Invest in Children, Achievement Centers for Children and Special Olympics Ohio Greater Cleveland. Watch party admission proceeds totaled $717,365.00.

At the Championship Rally on Wednesday, Cavaliers vice-chairmen and minority owners, Jeff Cohen and Nate Forbes, presented a check to City of Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish, who represented the six local charitable organizations that will benefit from the money raised.

In addition, through 50/50 raffles at home games and road game watch parties, and multiple auctions, the team raised an additional $50,000-plus, that will be going to other charities in the Cleveland area.

“We never have, and never will, take the amazing support of our fans for granted. They joined with us again to truly embrace the “ALL IN” spirit during this history-making NBA Championship run,” said Cavs CEO Len Komoroski. “Cavs fans should be extremely proud that our special partnership during this incredible journey together also translates into making a difference for some very worthy local charities and people across our area who really need and deserve it.”
