Miami HEAT welcome back students and teachers at Shadowlawn Elementary School

Miami – The Miami HEAT kicked off the 2016-17 school year in Miami-Dade County by welcoming back the students and teachers at Shadowlawn Elementary School on Monday, August 22nd. HEAT players, Rodney McGruder, Stefan Jankovic, Briante Weber and Okaro White along with the HEAT Dancers, HEAT mascot, Burnie, and Uptown Dale hosted a pep rally at the school and distributed school supplies courtesy of Florida Prepaid College Board to the students. Miami-Dade County Public Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho was also in attendance.

Shadowlawn Elementary is located at 149 NW 49th Street, Miami, FL 33127.

According to the 2015-16 grades report, Miami-Dade County Public Schools outperformed the entire state of Florida. More than half of all schools in the county earned an impressive A or B grade. Most notably, Shadowlawn Elementary, the school with the lowest grade, drastically improved by increasing their 2014-15 grade F to a grade B in 2015-16.
