The mayor of Milwaukee says he’s eager to work with Bucks president Peter Feigin to improve the city’s race relations.
Mayor Tom Barrett says he told Feigin on Monday that he’s happy the team executive is “engaged in trying to improve our community.”
Last week, the Wisconsin State Journal reported that Feigin called Milwaukee the “most segregated, racist place” he has seen during a speech in Madison. He was discussing the new arena’s potential for helping out a part of Milwaukee that needs it.
Barrett told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that city officials hope to change Feigin’s feelings, but “to do that, we’ve got a lot of work to do.”
Feigin, who is from New York City, also said the team is committed to helping Milwaukee.
