Math Hoops with Jared Cunningham

Forget NBA rivalries, on Tuesday it was all about NBA Math Hoops rivalries. It was a battle of the ages as Buhrer Dual Language School hosted Orchard STEM in an intense battle of “Math Hoops Live.”

The game was part of NBA Math Hoops, a season-long program that provides students and teachers a community experience that ties their math education to the game of basketball and the current stats of NBA players.

The initiative is centered around a board game, mobile app, and supplemental curriculum that is tied to the Common Core State Standards for math.

Unlike their previous contests, on Tuesday the two teams each had a special additional player: Cavs player Jared Cunningham and mascot Sir C.C.

Just like with games at The Q, hype man Ahmaad did player introductions before the teams took the floor. After the heated contest, Cunningham took questions from the students. Despite facing off against each other, all the students involved had a great time while also exercising their brains.
