Regular starter Dennis Schroder (rest) sat out this contest and top backup Jarrett Jack remained out while he continues to rehab his surgically-repaired knee, so Delaney got the call to the top unit and responded with a steady outing. Though he’ll be a rookie this season, Delaney possesses more high-level experience than most first-year players after spending the first five years of his career in Europe, where he was one of the continent’s top players in 2015-16. With Jack uncertain to be ready for the start of the regular season, Delaney could settle in as Schroder’s primary backup in the early going.
