Round 1
Day 1:
Kevin Durant (1) vs. Derrick Jones Jr. (16)
Derrick Jones Jr. selected to play with the Milwaukee Bucks in his first round matchup vs. top seeded Kevin Durant, who selected the L.A. Clippers. Jones Jr. pulled away late in the 4th quarter to pull off the shocking upset, 78-62. Next up, DJJ will battle it out against Montrezl Harrell.
Zach LaVine (7) vs. Deandre Ayton (10)
Deandre Ayton called on the Houston Rockets to take on Zach LaVine and the Miami Heat. Ayton claimed to be playing 2K in his spare time recently, and it showed as he toppled LaVine 57-41. He will move on to play Trae Young in the next round.
Trae Young (2) vs. Harrison Barnes (15)
Trae Young, playing as the Milwaukee Bucks, proved his 2-seed status vs. Harrison Barnes and the Toronto Raptors. Young walked away with a 42-point victory and a final score of 101-59. Young will face Ayton in the next round where both players will be looking to build off hot starts.
Hassan Whiteside (3) vs. Patrick Beverley (14)
Patrick Beverley chose the Milwaukee Bucks as his tool in defeating Hassan Whiteside and the Los Angeles Lakers. Beverley was his usual self, providing plenty of enthusiasm and energy to an 84-54 contest. Beverley will move on to face Andre Drummond.
Montrezl Harrell (8) vs. Domantas Sabonis (9)
Montrezl Harrell and Domantas Sabonis each elected to play with their current NBA teams. Harrell, as the Los Angeles Clippers, took control of Sabonis and the Pacers with a flurry of second half points, winning 73-51. Harrell will now face DJJ in the Quarter Finals.
Donovan Mitchell (5) vs. Rui Hachimura (12)
Rui Hachimura decided to go with the Los Angeles Lakers against Donovan Mitchell and the Brooklyn Nets. The entire game was a back-and-forth affair, coming down to a final shot to tie the game. The last-second three-pointer was missed by Mitchell’s Nets. Hachimura moves on with a final score of 74-71. He will look to take down Devin Booker in the 2nd Round.
Devin Booker (4) vs. Michael Porter Jr. (13)
Devin Booker felt comfortable starting off the tournament with the Milwaukee Bucks pitted against Michael Porter Jr.’s Los Angeles Lakers. Booker gave MPJ plenty of trouble with a pick-and-pop game, and kept the Lakers at bay throughout the last quarter to win 85-75. Booker will take on Rui Hachimura in Round 2.
Andre Drummond (6) vs. DeMarcus Cousins (11)
Andre Drummond chose to play with DeMarcus Cousin’s former team, the Los Angeles Lakers, while Cousins picked the Brooklyn Nets. The game was never quite in reach as Drummond cruised to a big win, 101-49. Drummond has a tough match-up in the next round against Pat Beverley.
Round 2
Devin Booker (4) vs. Rui Hachimura (12)
Booker selected the Dallas Mavericks to take on Rui Hachimura’s L.A. Clippers. Booker started strong and did not take his foot off of the gas defeating Hachimura 71-55. He will play Montrezl Harrell in the semi-finals.
Derrick Jones Jr. (16) vs. Montrezl Harrell (8)
Montrezl Harrell called on the Portland Trail Blazers to take on Derrick Jones Jr.’s Dallas Mavericks in their intense matchup. After Harrell played well for three quarters, Jones Jr. heated up and cut it close in the 4th. Harrell responded, pulling away in the final minutes. He will face Devin Booker next round.
Trae Young (2) vs. Deandre Ayton (10)
Deandre Ayton and Trae Young engaged in a wire-to-wire matchup between the Clippers (Ayton) and Lakers (Young). While both players showed flashes of brilliance, Ayton’s Clippers knocked down clutch free throws to win it. Ayton will face Patrick Beverley in the semi-finals.
Patrick Beverley (14) vs. Andre Drummond (6)
The always entertainig Beverley cheered his way to victory over Drummond as Beverly’s 76ers topped Drummond’s Bucks. Beverley will face Deandre Ayton next round.
Semifinals
Devin Booker (4) vs. Montrezl Harrell (8)
Devin Booker chose the Los Angeles Clippers to battle Montrezl Harrell and the Houston Rockets. Booker slowly built on a lead extending it to 14 PTS by the end of the game and securing a win. He also came out strong in game 2 with the Raptors, cruising past Montrezl Harrell and the Bucks. Booker advances to the finals.
Patrick Beverley (14) vs. Deandre Ayton (10)
Ayton managed to hold off Beverley’s impressive 4th quarter using the Brooklyn Nets to top Beverley’s Celtics. In game 2, Ayton’s weapon of choice was his very own Phoenix Suns. He defeated Beverley’s Nuggets, 74-67.
Finals
Ayton (10) vs. Booker (4)
It took two games for Devin Booker to defeat Deandre Ayton and be crowned the NBA 2K Players Champion. In Game 1 Booker used the Rockets to beat Ayton’s Lakers by 10. Booker completed the sweep by using the Nuggets to handily defeat Ayton’s Bucks. Devin Booker will direct the $100,000 prize to Direct Relief and Arizona Food Bank Network in support of ongoing coronavirus relief efforts.
