A converted free throw at the 7:33 mark in the second quarter Wednesday in Toronto gave LeBron James 7 points on the night, enough to push him past the legendary Reggie Miller in the record books. James’ 25,280th career point moves him into 18th place all-time in scoring.
This continues a history-making week for James, who moved into the top 25 in all-time assists on Monday, joining Oscar Robertson as the only two players to place in the top 25 in both scoring and assists.
Up next ahead of James on the all-time scoring list is Alex English in 17th place with 25,613 points. Should he continue climbing the record books after that, the next three places are held by active players: Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Tim Duncan – all within 1,000 points of where James is now.
Toronto outlasted LeBron and the Cavs in the game, winning 103-99. After the game, James talked about his team needing to get better on the road: “You’ve got to have a bunker mentality when you got on the road. We’ve got to understand that it is you guys vs. everyone else, vs. the fans, vs. the opposing group. Adversity is going to happen. You’ve got to have a bunker mentality that it’s just us. We’ve got to learn to play on the road again, which we did last year at some point, we just learned how to start winning games on the road and we haven’t been able to do it thus far.”
