LeBron James is arguably the best basketball player on the planet. The Cavaliers forward etched his name in the history books plenty of times throughout his storied career, long before he added yet another milestone on Monday.
James became the youngest player in league history to score 25,000 career points with an alley-oop in the fourth quarter against the 76ers. LeBron topped Kobe Bryant on the list, reaching 25k (+1) in 30 years and 307 days. Kobe’s 25,000th points came in 31 years and 151 days. Additionally, James did so in fewer games than every player except Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. That’s what we call some nice company.
Just moments before the historic bucket, James had already wowed the Philadelphia crowd with a high-flying alley-oop on the fastbreak.
A few possessions later, the Cavaliers brought the ball up the court and initiated their offense. With the ball in the hands of Australian guard Matthew Dellavedova, James rolled towards the basket and elevated as Dellavedova lofted the ball towards the rim. King James corralled the pass and put it home.
The 76ers crowd honored James’ achievement with a standing ovation at the next timeout.
