Lakers’ James (Groin) To Be Re-evaluated In One Week

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James will miss a couple more games before he’ll return to the lineup.

The team announced today that James, who is suffering from a strained left groin, will be re-evaluated in a week. Here’s the official word from the Lakers:

LeBron James, who has been out since suffering a strained left groin on December 25 vs. Golden State, is receiving daily treatment by the team’s training and medical staff and continues to progress with his recovery.

He will not travel on the team’s upcoming two-game road trip and will be re-evaluated in one week.

The Lakers host the New York Knicks tonight (10:30 ET, NBA League Pass). Then, they start a road trip that begins with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday (3:30 ET, NBA League Pass), the Dallas Mavericks on Monday (8:30 ET, NBA League Pass) before returning home to host the Detroit Pistons next Wednesday (10:30 ET, ESPN).

The one week re-evaluation timeframe means the next game James could play in is next Friday in Utah against the Jazz (10 ET, ESPN).

The Lakers have gone 1-3 in James’ absence, logging their lone win on Sunday against the Sacramento Kings. Earlier this week, Lakers coach Luke Walton told reporters that James did get some shots up in front of him. Walton said Tuesday marked “the first time I’ve seen [James] shooting.” But, Walton added, “He’s working on his body, his game, himself all the time. But that’s the first time I’ve seen him shoot [since the injury].”
