Kobe Bryant has chosen his way of saying farewell to the next generation of young superstars, as LeBron James became the latest to receive a pair of signed shoes from the Lakers icon.
After the two faced one another in Cleveland on Wednesday, Bryant autographed his game-worn kicks for James, who had recalled to the media the day before when Bryant gave him shoes as a teenager.
James was in Teaneck, New Jersey, for a high school tournament when he got the chance to meet Bryant, who had traveled to Philadelphia — about a two-hour drive away — for the 2002 All-Star Game. On that day, he gave the 17-year-old James a pair of sneakers that he would later wear against Carmelo Anthony in a meeting between two of the nation’s top high school programs.
Bryant has also given shoes this year to the likes of Paul George, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green.
