The New York Knicks (4-4) defeated the Toronto Raptors (5-3) 111-109 on Tuesday.
The Knicks held off the Raptors in a nail-biter on Tuesday thanks to some great bench performances. The Raptors shot 39 free-throws in the game compared to the Knicks 18, but New York still prevailed with some late heroics. It was a relatively clean game, as there were only 20 combined turnovers.
The Knicks got 17 points from Lance Thomas and 15 points from Langston Galloway off the bench en route to a big victory. The team was led by superstar Carmelo Anthony, who tallied 25 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals in the win. They also got a nice performance from Robin Lopez, who neared a double-double with four blocks. They'll look to keep this momentum up against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday in the second half of a back-to-back set.
Toronto started off the season 5-0, but have proceeded to lose three-straight since. The team was led by its guards on Tuesday, as Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan put in great performances once again. Lowry tallied 23 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, while DeRozan totaled 29 points and five rebounds in the loss. They also got a nice performance off the bench from Cory Joseph, who amassed 12 points, eight assists and six rebounds in the defeat. The Raptors will look to break this losing streak in a favorable matchup on Wednesday against the Philadelphia 76ers.
