Golden State will be without Klay Thompson on Friday night as it attempts to extends its NBA-record start to 24-0, with the star guard still resting an ankle he sprained against the Pacers on 8 Dec.
“We’re not going to push him,” said Warriors coach Luke Walton during pregame availability.
Thompson’s averaging 18.2 points per game this season. After a slow start (by his standards), the Splash Brother has shot 52 percent over his last 7 games and 50 percent from 3-point range — including a 39-point outpouring against the Pacers.
Golden State’s also missing guard Leandro Barbosa, an anchor for their second unit, while Boston will be without guard Marcus Smart.
The Warriors and Celtics tip in Boston at 19:30 EST / 00:30 UTC / 08:30 Hong Kong.
