Fittingly, Durant’s efforts spearheaded the Warriors’ series-clinching win,
validating his momentous offseason signing in the most spectacular way possible.
The All-Star forward drained buckets from wherever he pleased and put a bow on
what was an outstanding series. Durant shot an impressive 55.6 percent over the
five games, making 14 shots in both Game 1 and Game 5 while also notching 13
successful attempts in Game 2. He scored no less than 31 points in any game, and
Monday’s point total served as his postseason high. Durant wrapped up a
remarkable first season in Golden State with averages of 25.1 points, 8.3
rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.1 steals across 33.4 minutes and will
naturally be an intergral part of the team’s defense of their championship next
season.
