Kawhi Leonard: Out Saturday vs. Warriors with concussion

Leonard took a blow to the head in the third quarter of Thursday’s loss to the
Thunder and didn’t return to the contest, but the Spurs provided every
indication after the game that the All-Star forward was fine and unlikely to
miss any action. However, it appears concussion-like symptoms surfaced when he
was reevaluated Friday, so Leonard will enter the league’s concussion protocol
and remain under supervision until he passes all tests. The Spurs are just two
games behind the Warriors for the Western Conference’s best record, so having
their best player unavailable for the head-to-head matchup is an untimely
development. Look for Jonathon Simmons, who started at small forward in
Wednesday’s win over the Kings when Leonard sat out for rest, to take another
turn on the top unit Saturday.
