Coach Gregg Popovich indicated earlier in the week that Leonard was unlikely to
play Monday, so this latest update comes as no surprise. With the Warriors
boasting a commanding 3-0 lead and on the brink of eliminating the Spurs, this
could mean the end of Leonard’s season after averaging 25.5 points, 5.8
rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.8 steals across 33.1 minutes during the 2016-17
campaign. Look for Jonathon Simmons to start a third straight game in Leonard’s
place Monday, with guys like Kyle Anderson and Manu Ginobili potentially picking
up some extra run as well.
