After averaging an absurd 17.0 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.0 blocks,
and 1.4 steals across 31.6 minutes per game during the first seven contests
following the All-Star Break, Nurkic has come back down to Earth the past two
outings. He also racked up five fouls Sunday, which has been a noticeable issue
for him since joining Portland, as he’s committed at least four fouls in seven
out of the last nine games. It’s also possible that opposing defenses have
figured him out to some extent, as other teams have likely gathered enough film
on the new-look Trail Blazers to construct a gameplan to limit Nurkic’s damage.
That being said, he’s still producing at a high level overall on both ends of
the floor, and should be picked up off the waiver wire if he’s available in
almost every fantasy format.
