EL SEGUNDO – Jordan Clarkson has been selected to participate in the 2016 Taco Bell(r) Skills Challenge at Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Saturday, Feb. 13 as part of NBA All-Star Weekend, it was announced today by the NBA.
Clarkson, who was also recently chosen to play in the Rising Stars Challenge, will compete against defending Skills Challenge champion Patrick Beverley (Houston), DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento), Anthony Davis (New Orleans), Draymond Green (Golden State), CJ McCollum (Portland), Isaiah Thomas (Boston) and Karl-Anthony Towns (Minnesota). The head-to-head, bracket-style tournament event will consist of a three-round, obstacle-course competition that tests dribbling, passing, agility and three-point-shooting skills. Tournament matchups will be determined at a later date.
An All-Rookie First Team selection last season, Clarkson is averaging 15.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.10 steals in 49 games (all starts). The 6’5″ guard ranks second among all sophomores in points per game and is currently amid a career-long 19-game streak of scoring in double-figures.
The Taco Bell(r) Skills Challenge will be exclusively televised by TNT in the U.S. at 7:30 p.m. ET. This marks Turner Sports’ 31st year of NBA All-Star coverage. Sportsnet and TSN will simulcast the Taco Bell(r) Skills Challenge in Canada.
