Jimmy Butler Leaves Game With Knee Sprain

Bulls PR says Jimmy Butler has a left knee sprain and will not return Friday against the Jazz. Butler injured the knee on a drive to the basket in which he was fouled. He stayed in the game to shoot free throws, but then was carted to the team locker room. He later returned to the Bulls’ bench with ice on the knee. Bulls beat reporter Nick Friedell detailed the injury on Twitter (@NickFriedell):

-Butler is down underneath the basket in a lot of pain.

-Butler was in the cart about to go off — now he’s trying to walk it off.

-Butler stayed in the game to shoot the free throws. He hasn’t moved off the line. Bulls foul.

-Now Butler is being carted off the floor.

-Somber scene outside locker room as Bulls personnel and assorted media wait outside training room as Butler is being checked out.

-Butler walks out of training room with a huge ice pack on his left knee.

-Butler actually had a good sense of humor as he limped into locker room telling staff, “Ya’ll get me the Forrest Gump knee brace.”

-The left knee is the same knee Butler has been having issues with. He missed Wednesday’s game because of left knee tendinitis.
