New York City — Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward will make his season debut today against the New York Knicks, according to Utah coach Quin Snyder.
Hayward suffered a fractured ring finger during Jazz training camp. Snyder says Hayward is “arguably our best offensive player,” and he will be in the starting lineup for the Jazz. With Hayward back in his starting position, Joe Johnson will come off the bench for the Jazz, who are 3-3 thus far this season.
Hayward’s debut will mark the beginning of the 6-8 forward’s seventh season. Last season the 26-year-old Hayward averaged a team high 19.7 ppg, as well as 3.7 apg.
