The Utah Jazz will be looking for their third straight win when they host the Dallas Mavericks tonight at Vivint Smart Home Arena.
Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
The Mavericks (6-19) have won two of their past four games, but are coming off a loss to Detroit on Wednesday. Dallas is 1-11 in road games so far this season.
Harrison Barnes is leading the Mavs in scoring (20.4 ppg) in his first year with the team, while two former Jazz guards–Wesley Matthews and Deron Williams–also play key roles. After an off-year last season (while still recovering from a ruptured Achilles) Matthews has regained his form and currently ranks third in the NBA with 3.2 3-pointers per game.
Williams has missed eight games with a calf injury, but he’s been effective when healthy, averaging 12.5 points and 6.5 assists per game as the starting point guard.
Perennial All-Star Dirk Nowitzki has played in only five games because of a sore Achilles, and J.J. Barea (calf) has missed the last 15 games.
The Jazz (16-10) have won nine of their last 11 games and are coming off a 20-point win over Oklahoma City on Wednesday.
Gordon Hayward leads the team in scoring this season (22.9 ppg), while Rudy Gobert is averaging a double-double at 11.8 ppg and 11.7 ppg.
Gobert also leads the NBA in FG% at 68.2 percent, and Joe Ingles leads the league in 3-Point FG% at 50.8 percent.
George Hill (toe) and Alec Burks (ankle) remain out for the Jazz.
