After hosting the Utah Jazz Summer League last week, the Jazz made their Las Vegas Summer League debut tonight against the Washington Wizards. The game was close for much of the first half but the Jazz ended up falling 88-73.
Utah’s Trey Lyles led the Jazz in scoring once again, putting up 28 points going 7/16 from the field and 3/7 from the three point line. Lyles also shot 11/12 from the free throw line. Lyles’ leadership is continuing to grow as he heads into his sophomore year in the NBA.
Joel Bolomboy had high praises for Trey saying, “He’s a really good mentor and I am learning a lot”.
Dionte Christmas also caught fire late in the game and finished with 13 points as well.
The Wizards second year man, Kelly Oubre Jr. put together a solid performance scoring 20 points and 8 rebounds. Michael Eric had a notable performance adding 13 points to their victory.
Washington dominated the 3rd quarter outscoring the Jazz 29 to 14 allowing them to pull ahead with a 20-point lead heading into the 4th quarter. The Wizards outscored the jazz in both second chance points and points in the paint as a result from a nice group effort.
The Jazz will have to regroup and come back strong tomorrow as they take on the New Orleans Pelicans at 5 p.m. local time at the Cox Pavilion arena.
