The Jazz kick off their Las Vegas Summer League play tonight against the Washington Wizards at 4:30pm MT on NBA TV.
Despite going 0-3 during the Utah Jazz Summer League, there were defnite positives to take away from the week in Salt Lake.
“The guys had great effort throughout the entire week,” said coach Johnnie Bryant. “They continued to improve as the week went on and they went out there and competed and that’s all you can ask for as a coach.”
Trey Lyles played well and led the Jazz in scoring and rebounding in each of the three games during UJSL. The second-year forward put up 20.3 points and 10.3 rebounds and made a habit of getting to the free throw line – getting to the line over eight times per game.
Another bright spot for the Jazz last week was Tibor Pleiss who improved every game and on the final day of UJSL put up 14 points (5/8 fg, 2/3 3pt) and 6 rebounds.
Leading the Wizards will be second-year forward Kelly Oubre Jr. Oubre Jr was the 15th overall selection in the 2015 NBA Draft (Kansas) and averaged 16.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists during summer league action last year. He’s an athletic wing who can make big plays happen and will be someone for Jazz fans to keep an eye on.
The Jazz will be back in action on Sunday evening when they face the New Orleans Pelicans at 6pm MT on NBA TV.
