The Utah Jazz used a strong third quarter and overcame a 22-point effort by first-round pick Brandon Ingram to get by the Los Angeles Lakers, 92-88, on Friday night in a Las Vegas Summer League consolation game at the Thomas and Mack Center.
Both teams were solid from the field, and the Lakers received double-digit scoring efforts from four members of their first unit. Utah posted success rates of 46.1 percent from the field and 43.5 percent from three-point range, while Los Angeles was able to muster corresponding 43.6 percent and 40.9 percent figures in those categories. The two teams drained a total of 19 shots from beyond the arc, and the back-and-forth contest featured five lead changes and six ties.
Ingram’s point total led all scorers, and was complemented by five rebounds, four assists and a steal. Fellow rookie Ivica Zubac supplied a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double, and added a game-high six blocks. Anthony Brown (15 points) and Xavier Munford (11 points) were notable contributors as well, while the bench was paced by a pair of eight-point efforts from Jabari Brown and Trevor Lacey.
Joel Bolomboy led the Jazz’s attack with 20 points and added seven boards and a steal. While no other member of the starting five managed double-digit scoring, Dionte Christmas and Spencer Butterfield pitched in with a pair of 14-point outings in reserve roles.
Both teams have wrapped up summer league play, with the Jazz finishing at 3-3 and the Lakers posting a 3-2 record.
